Who is Maria?

A fourth-generation matchmaker, Maria Avgitidis is following in the footsteps of the women in her family, all of whom share a sixth sense about love and relationships. (Her grandmother once conducted Greek coffee readings to predict the romantic future for her clients.)

When Maria was younger, one of her aunts taught her that while we all have intuition, few have the ability to tap into it. For those who do, matchmaking comes naturally, and given her lineage, it’s not surprising that Maria has quite a knack for it. In fact, her first match was in kindergarten between two classmates —who ended up dating all through elementary school, middle school and most of high school.

In addition to understanding her intuition, Maria is an astute observer of how various personality types interact with each other. Together these skills allow her to find and nurture romantic relationships for her clients, and often help improve their platonic relationships as well.

How does she work? Recognizing that every New Yorker is different, Maria doesn’t have a “one size fits all” approach to her coaching. Instead she works closely with her clients to truly understand what they want and  what they need. Only then can she develop a strategy for making it happen. While the desired big picture outcome for each client may be similar, the brushstrokes along the way are unique.
